Christmas Nativity 2011

Before Christmas we decided to organise a live nativity performance, starring our brilliant staff from the parlour and farm (not forgetting the donkey!), who kindly volunteered their time to help deliver the Christmas message. All these efforts were to raise money for a really worthy Christian charity called Give Hope.

The charity helps poverty stricken villages, one in Zambia, the other in Ethiopia, focusing on developing projects that benefit orphaned and vunerable children. Every penny raised from the Nativity will go directly to Give Hope. We hoped to raise at least £1,000 - which would be sufficient funds to educate, feed and clothe 4 or hopefully 5 children for a whole year!

We hosted the Nativity on 20th, 21st and 22nd of December 2011. It was truly amazing to see the story played out in such a unique setting and we all hope those of you who came to watch enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed hosting it!

The very best news however is that we raised an impressive £1500, much more than hoped! With that 6 children will be sponsored to be clothed, have one meal a day, housed and go to school for a whole year, how amazing is that?!!! With the gift aid slips most of the customers filled in, 26% of the donations people made, can be claimed from the Government by Give hope. I have calculated this will be £349, which Martin from Give Hope has requested goes to help other needs in the community which will help lots of children, not just the 6 we are sponsoring. In the New Year we will recieve photo's of the 6 children we will directly help, which we can proudly display in the Parlour!

We would like to say a massive thank you for all who attended and those who donated to such a worthy cause! And a huge thank you to every single person who was involved in such a fanastic production!
